김별희 (Kim Byeolhee)* 김별희 대표는 우리의 생활방식이 현대화됨에 따라 쓰임새를 잃어가는 '전통사물'을 소재로 도자기만의 특성을 이용하여 새로운 가치를 제안합니다. 우리가 흔히 접하는 전통 소반은 목가구의 특성으로 인해 시간이 지남에 따라 썩고 파손되어, 조선시대의 소반보다 더 오래된 소반은 접하기 어렵습니다. 물과 열에 취약한 물질적 한계를 가진 목재소반을 도자기 소반으로 구현함으로서 다양한 활용방안을 제시합니다. 이렇게 제작한 제품을 통해 현대인들이 전통에 더 쉽게 접근하길 바랍니다.

Artist Kim Byul Hee proposes new values using the characterstics of ceramics only, based on the theme of 'traditional objects' that are losing their use as our lifestyle goes modernized. She mainly produces tea untensils under the theme of 'Soban'. But most of the traditional soban are from the Joseon Dynasty. So it is difficult to access older soban because of the characteristics of wooden furniture that rot and damage over time.
She proposes various methods by implementing a wooden soban with a material limit that
is vulnerable to water and heat into a ceramic soban.
She hopes that these works will make it easier for modern people to access tradition.
